“This has been inspiring!

It’s the first time that I have benefited from a great art teacher - teaching.

Thank you. “

Hi, I'm Gemma, an artist, art educator, and the founder of Green Fox Workshops, which has now evolved into Gemma Lane Art.

Art has always been at the heart of everything I do. After completing my Fine Art degree at Oxford Brookes University in 2006, I became a secondary school Art teacher in 2007. Over the past 15+ years, I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of young people discover their creativity and grow in confidence.

In 2016, I founded Green Fox Workshops to bring creative opportunities to a wider community. As my work has grown and become more closely connected to my own artistic practice and teaching, I've transitioned the business to Gemma Lane Art. While the name has changed, the heart of what I do remains the same: creating welcoming, inspiring spaces where people of all ages can enjoy making art.

I believe everyone can be creative when they're given the time, encouragement, and guidance to explore. Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or experimenting with oil paint or clay, my aim is to make every workshop relaxed, accessible, and enjoyable.

I teach using a calm, step-by-step approach, helping people build skills without feeling overwhelmed. One of the things I love most is seeing people surprise themselves with what they can achieve. Many of my students return again and again—not just to learn new techniques, but because they enjoy being part of a friendly, creative community.

I've been fortunate to work with wonderful organisations and venues across Bath, Bristol, and Somerset, including The Bishop's Palace, Tyntesfield (National Trust), Hestercombe House, and SS Great Britain.

Since 2022, I've also worked with the home education community, designing Art and Photography sessions tailored to each learner's interests. In 2025, I collaborated with Bristol Streams Hub to help more young people explore creativity through hands-on artistic experiences offering GCSE Art and GCSE Photography in small group sizes.

Alongside teaching, I'm a practising artist, and I believe that continuing my own creative journey enables me to inspire others to develop confidence, curiosity, and joy through creativity.

Whether you're joining a workshop, booking a private session, or simply looking to reconnect with your creative side, I'd love to welcome you to Gemma Lane Art.

“Gemma's inspiration and guidance has been invaluable. It really has helped me explore other media, subject matter and techniques. ⁣
⁣She is an experienced tutor, generous with her time, well organised with many ideas to share! Thanks Gemma!”
