Bristol Museum

Gemma will get you inspired and provide personal tutorage, helping you to recreate selected masterpieces from our amazing collection. While enjoying a drawing session, participants will learn about the origins of our Fine Art collection, and the historical context of selected paintings.

Each workshop focuses on a different fine art material and aspect of the collection. We will start with warm-up activities to get the creative flow going, followed with a step-by-step demonstration on using the materials selected to help create your interpretation of one of our masterpieces.

This workshop is part of our upcoming display Opulent Origins: 200 Years of Displaying Fine Art, which reimagines the first fine art exhibitions we hosted in the 1820s. Our predecessors encouraged training amongst local artists by inviting them to copy from the pictures on display.

At the end of the session, you will have the choice to display your creation as part of the Opulent Origins display.
