Wednesday 1st May - Applying your drawing of a house plant onto strecthed watercolour paper, develop an understanding of using watercolour paints through demonstrations and experimenting on test paper. Applying this knowledge on to your study of your plant.
Wednesday 8th May - developing layers to build up depth and colour
Wednesday 15th May - developing details and finishing touches to include highlights, low lights and considering a background.
Chalk pastel Online course
Embrace the beauty of nature through our chalk pastel flower class. Let your artistic spirit bloom and add a pop of colour to your day! Join us on this creative journey .
During this 4 week online course, I will demonstrate how to successfully use chalk pastels to create beautiful drawings of flowers. The sessions will be held via Zoom and will start on Tuesday 16th April at 7.30pm - 8.30pm for 4 weeks, ending Tuesday 7th May. This is a great way to socialise, meet new people and learn a new skill all from the comfort of your home. Sessions will be recorded so you will be ale to catch up should not be able to make one.

Chalk Pastel Landscapes online
In this chalk pastel landscapes workshop, you will learn how to create stunning and vibrant landscape scenes using chalk pastels. Let your creativity flow as you discover the versatile medium of chalk pastels and how to manipulate them to bring your landscapes to life.
If you’re new to chalk pastels, fear not! This course is designed for beginners, and our experienced tutor will guide you through step-by-step demonstrations and provide individual support to help you unleash your inner artist.
Throughout the workshop, you will explore different techniques and experiment with a variety of colours to create unique and captivating landscapes. The process of blending and layering chalk pastels will not only be therapeutic but also immensely rewarding as you watch your landscapes come to life on paper.
Join us for this engaging and hands-on activity, where you will learn how to express yourself through the vibrant medium of chalk pastels.

Bath Sketching Tour
Come and immerse yourself in the beautiful City of Bath, drawing from the beautiful Georgian architecture and surrounding nature. During the day you will learn different drawing techniques, visit the Holburne Museum Henri Moore in miniature exhibition, and complete some pastel drawings of the famous Avon canal.
This day is perfect for beginners and intermediate artists. Gemma from Green Fox Workshops will demonstrate a step by step approach, guiding you with each material.
Materials and entrance to exhibition are included apart from a sketchbook. Please be aware that this is a sketching tour and that we will be walking and drawing in different places throughout Bath, suitable footwear for varying terrain and ability to walk is essential.
Lunch is not included, however access to The Holburne museum cafe will be nearby.

SS Great Britain
Join artist Gemma Lane for a day’s sketching at Brunel’s SS Great Britain. In collaboration with Green Fox Workshops, Brunel’s SS Great Britain is excited to be offering this special opportunity for the first time. Gemma will focus on drawing skills and use of watercolours for beginners and those with intermediate skill levels.
Sketching tour experiences take place on and around Brunel’s great ship. They start at 10am and finish around 3pm with all materials included (except a sketchbook) and include a sandwich lunch. Once the workshop is over you are welcome to explore the rest of the site at your leisure.

Drawing & painting British Birds for the Bath Re -Balance Festival
Come and be mindful during this wonderfully relaxing day, spent at Regen House in the Grove room as part of the Re-balance Bath festival. The morning session will focus on drawing British birds using a range of dry media. The afternoon session will focus on bringing a British bird to life using watercolour. This day is perfect for beginners and intermediate artists. Gemma Lane from Green Fox Workshops will go through a step by step approach, ensuring students leave with a piece of art work that they can be proud of and most importantly a day where they can just focus on the present.

Autumn Sketching Tour @ Bishops Palace, Wells
Autumn brings an abundance of food from the harvest. Bishops Palace has its own kitchen gardens and allotments. Working with produce grown on site we will learn how to create beautiful detailed drawings using colour with colouring pencils and felt tip pens of the root vegetables found at this time of year from red onions to squashes. The morning session will be spent learning about how to blend with colouring pencils and the afternoon will be applying that knowledge to some of the produce. Gemma Lane will guide you through this process and encourage you to work with colour in different ways. The session includes all materials apart from a sketchbook. Make sure you bring a packed lunch.

Bristol Museum
Gemma will get you inspired and provide personal tutorage, helping you to recreate selected masterpieces from our amazing collection. While enjoying a drawing session, participants will learn about the origins of our Fine Art collection, and the historical context of selected paintings.
Each workshop focuses on a different fine art material and aspect of the collection. We will start with warm-up activities to get the creative flow going, followed with a step-by-step demonstration on using the materials selected to help create your interpretation of one of our masterpieces.
This workshop is part of our upcoming display Opulent Origins: 200 Years of Displaying Fine Art, which reimagines the first fine art exhibitions we hosted in the 1820s. Our predecessors encouraged training amongst local artists by inviting them to copy from the pictures on display.
At the end of the session, you will have the choice to display your creation as part of the Opulent Origins display.

With Summer in full bloom at Bishops Palace, come and spend a relaxing day working with chalk pastels creating your very own monet inspired water picture. The morning session will focus on working with chalks and charcoal. Gemma Lane will guide you through a step by step process showing you different techniques working with this material. Plein Air Painting @Chew Valley Lake
Chew Valley Lake offer lots with the view and and the wildlife. So this will be a fun session with facilities within walking distance of a day out plein air painting. You will need your own easel or Green Fox workshops can provide a table top easel which you can rest on your legs. Please let Gemma know when booking.
For £30 you can attend the session and bring your own paints and canvas. Brushes and water will be provided.
For £40 you can attend the session and all materials will be provided.
Spring Watercolour class @Arnos Vale Cemetery Bristol
Come and spend a wonderful day at Arnos Vale creating a watercolour study of spring flowers. Gemma Lane will demonstrate a step by step process of working with watercolour. Working from direct observation of spring flowers, you will leave with a finished watercolour study. We will be based in the Spielman Room, next door to the cafe. All Materials are included in this session for £60.

Pop up Art Session Chew Valley Lake
Pop up Art sessions aim to give you the opportunity to work plein air aka paint outside with the comfort and company of a group and with Gemma to guide you. The sessions will always happen on a Friday and will aim to be towards the end of the month. Gemma will provide the basics such as pencil cases with an eraser, pencil, pen and some dry media such as chalks, colouring pencils with paper and A3 boards.
As these sessions are ‘plein air’ some of the locations might require some walking and be on varying degrees of terrain so please come prepared with suitable walking shoes and warm layers.
Chew Valley Lake offer lots with the view and and the wildlife. So this will be a fun session with facilities within walking distance of a day out plein air painting. This session was originally planned for March but thanks to the wet weather has been postponed to Friday 21st April.
Things you might want to consider bringing:
A camping chair
A flask with a hot drink
A rucksack with any art materials you would like to bring
You can come for as long or as little as you want.
For this session you will need an A4 or A3 canvas

Create a beautiful Georgia O'Keeffe inspired Flower. This is a 4 week course which includes all materials and canvases for £65.
The session lasts for 1 hour 30 mins.
Wednesday 1st March: Learn about the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and about how to start and prep your canvas. Working with images of flowers you will create your own outline inspired by O'Keeffe, creating a base tone.
Wednesday 8th March: To gain knowledge about applying tonal shading and colour mixing with acrylics.

For our first Pop Up Art session we will meet at Blagdon Lake and walk along the Lake for the first 5 minutes to get to a larger opening for us all to sit or stand comfortably.
